About me

Koninika Pal is a postdoctoral researcher at Max Planck Institute, Saarbruecken, Germany, in the department of Databases and Information Systems, which is directed by Prof. Gerhard Weikum's. She received her Ph.D. degree from Technical University Kaiserslautern under the supervision of Prof. Sebastian Michel in September 2018. Her dissertation focused on building smart indexing methods for efficient querying of ranked lists and mining interesting categories for exploring ranked entities, extracted from web tables. Her current research interests broadly cover the area of information extraction and knowledge base curation. Specifically, she is working on extracting and canonicalizing interesting commonsense assertions from the web, harvesting peer entities for an entity using facts from knowledge bases and web tables, and building an end-to-end question-answering system to handle quantitative queries.
