Special Session on Theoretical Foundations of Evolutionary Computation
Special Session on Theoretical Foundations of Evolutionary Computation at theIEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC) 2009
May 18-21, Trondheim, Norway
Aims and Scope
Evolutionary computation methods such as evolutionary algorithms or ant colony optimization have been shown to be very successful when dealing with real-world applications or problems from combinatorial optimization. The theoretical understanding of these, in practice successful, algorithms is an important topic and has gained increasing interest in recent years. The aim of this special session is to bring together people working on theoretical aspects of evolutionary computation methods.
We invite submission concerning all kinds of theoretical analyses of evolutionary computation.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) population dynamics, approaches from statistical mechanics, runtime analysis, fitness landscapes and problem difficulty, and self-adaptation.
